Thank you Tara. I believe our mistake is that psychedelics are not the end-all-be-all - the way the hype misleads us. Our take-a-pill-and-feel-better Western mentality spills over into the psychedelics world. But the substances should be seen as adjunctive tools to a thoughtful and secure framework for developing an inner guidance system that includes conditioning our nervous system so we can first and foremost have the strength to feel what we’re feeling and the awareness to know what it is. Of course, this means intentional preparation beyond a day or a week of letting the substance “have its way with you.” But not everyone is ready for the spiritual development that the substances can work in tandem with. The substances are only half the story as I see it. And that is why following journeys whether with MDMA, ketamine, acid, psilocybin, ayahuasca, etc, the person’s symptoms often start seeping back in - and yet another (and another) bump-up is required.
